Explore the Tuscan countryside and discover some wonderful wines from the region with a wine tasting in Chiant and Montepulciano, followed by a traditional dinner in Siena with our exclusive 9 days tour.

Rome, Tuscany and Umbria tour takes you into the beautiful Tuscan countryside where you’ll explore charming medieval hill towns, art filled cities and sample some of Italy’s best food and wine. You will have the chance to learn about the history of Siena and then have a wine tasting in Chianti. Everything about this tour says relax and indulge. You will soak up the tranquil country atmosphere, explore vibrant Florence, dine in a traditional Trattoria, tour the vineyards of Tuscany, take part on a Cooking Class at your Umbria Villa and sample Chianti in the town that bears its name. This Italian experience is all here waiting just for you.

Our Commitment is to guarantee any departures even with 2 participants. For groups traveling with a minimum of 7 people, a tour leader will escorted the group from the arrival until departure. In case of the number of people traveling will be less or equal to 6, the tour will be operated by a tour host. The tour host will visit daily the guests and will assist them at check-in in any single hotel. The tour host will escort the guest to the restaurants when the dinner is included. The tour host is available 24 hours by phone. The passengers are provided at their arrival with a Travel Packet with information, maps and an itinerary with details, tips and emergency toll free number.

Day 1 (Friday): Rome

(Welcome Cocktail, Dinner)

Welcome to Italy!

Upon arrival at Rome airport collect your luggage and meet the driver to be transferred to your hotel. We’ve left the rest of your day free to explore the Eternal City. Return to your hotel in time for an evening meeting with your tour host, who will provide an overview of the destinations you will visit on the tour. This is your opportunity to learn all about the tour program, receive tour literature and ask questions. Overnight in Rome.

Day 2 (Saturday): Rome

(Breakfast and Dinner)

After breakfast, meet your guide and transfer to the Vatican for a guided tour which includes the entrance fee for the Museum. The Vatican is home to some of the world’s most significant art pieces. The masters of ancient Greek and Roman art are represented amongst the Vatican collection. Today you will view the works of Raphael, Michelangelo and many others. Your tour will also take you to the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica At the end of the tour you will stop for lunch (not included). In the afternoon you will visit Piazza del Popolo, Spanish Steps, Piazza Navona, Pantheon and Campo dei Fiori. When the tour ends, return to your hotel by private coach. In the evening you’ll enjoy a delicious Italian dinner at local restaurant. Overnight in Rome.

Day 3 (Sunday): Rome

(Breakfast)

Eat Breakfast at the hotel. Today you will have the whole day to explore Rome at your leisure. Overnight in Rome.

Day 4 (Monday): Rome – Siena – Chianti – Florence

(Breakfast and Lunch)

Meet your driver in the morning, ready for departure to Siena. The drive itself will take you on a magnificent path along the roads of Tuscany. Enjoy stunning views of hills covered by vineyards and olive trees. Catch a glimpse of original bell towers as you pass through small villages along the way. Enjoy a wine tasting with typical cheeses and salami (Typical “Farmer’s Lunch”).

Upon arrival in the city, meet with your local guide and head out for a walking tour of Siena. This is probably Italy’s loveliest medieval city. At the heart of Siena is Il Campo, the Square where the famous horse race Il Palio takes place twice every summer. After the tour you’ll continue your journey to Florence with a stop in a vineyard in Chianti for a wine tasting. Time permitting, additional stop in Monteriggioni and free time to discover this ancient templar village. Arrive in Florence late afternoon. Check-in at your hotel and spend an evening relaxing. Overnight in Florence.

Day 5 (Tuesday): Florence

(Breakfast and Dinner)

Enjoy a guided morning walking tour of the city. Florence was transformed into the cradle of the Renaissance by Lorenzo de Medici, who attracted the best artists, architects and writers of the time to the city. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli were among the artistic geniuses to whom he commissioned various works. Visit the most famous locations in Florence: Piazza della Signoria; Palazzo Vecchio (outside); the Dome with Giotto’s bell tower (outside); Ponte Vecchio; Academia Gallery (entrance fee included). Spend your free time in the afternoon exploring Florence on your own. Visit the Uffizi, or take the opportunity to visit Pisa or Lucca. In late afternoon, meet with your tour assistant for a 30 min sunset walking to explore the hidden Florence. The sunset is breathtaking and the best moment to take wonderful pictures. At the end, enjoy a tasty Tuscan Dinner in a traditional Tratoria. Overnight in Florence.

Day 6 (Wednesday): Florence – Montepulciano – Montalcino – Umbria

(Breakfast and Dinner)

After breakfast, say goodbye to Florence and transfer to Umbria. En route stops in Montepulciano and Montalcino to visit two beautiful villages, today famous also for their unique wines. Montepulciano si also know as the “Pearl of 1500s” for the quantity and the beauty of its masterpieces created by famous Renaissance artists. The town is located on a hilltop overlooking the southern Tuscan Countryside of vineyards and olive groves. During the visit of Montepulciano, you will have the chance to taste different wines from this area.

Montalcino is a medieval walled city, full of important palaces, churches and squares. The city became famous during the wars between Siena and Florence. The people of Siena abandoned their town and retreated to Montalcino. But today the city is best known for its Brunello, considered one of the best wine in the world. Later afternoon arrival in Perugia area and check-in at the villa. Dinner will be served at the hotel.

Day 7 (Thursday): Umbria – Cortona – Cooking Class

(Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast you will head to Cortona. Cortona is a small village not far from Siena. The city, protected by stone walls, was Etruscan and then Roman. Its located on the top of a hill; this dominant position over the valley offers a spectacular view from all over the town of the surrounding valley. Cortona is considered the most beautiful Italian medieval town and it deserves the fame.

In the afternoon, return to the hotel where you can relax in the park, enjoy the pool (from June to September) or take advantage of the Spa.

Late afternoon, be ready for your cooking class: learn how to prepare the typical Italian Pasta! At the end, eat and enjoy what you have prepared.

Day 8 (Friday): Perugia – Assisi – Rome

(Breakfast, Dinner)

After breakfast your driver will meet you and you will travel through the Tuscan countryside to the Umbrian hill town of Assisi. You will spend the morning exploring this peaceful town at your own pace. You can visit the many spiritual sites of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. The enormous Basilica of San Francesco di Assisi is filled with artistic treasure and important religious shrine. The Giotto fresco cycle that portrays the life of Saint Francis in the upper Basilica is a must. On the other end of this delightful town is the simple Gothic style Basilica of Saint Clare and a piazza with beautiful views over the Umbrian valleys. After lunch (not included), continue to Rome. After arrival, free time to continue to explore the Eternal City. You will have a Farewell dinner in a typical Roman Restaurant and stay overnight at a four star hotel.

Day 9 (Saturday): Rome

(Breakfast)

Today you will depart for home. Rise early and meet the driver to make your way to Rome airport or train station.
