Day 1 (Friday): Rome
Welcome to Italy!Upon arrival at Rome airport collect your luggage and meet the driver to be transferred to your hotell. We’ve left the rest of your day free to explore the Eternal City. Return to your hotel in time for an evening meeting with your tour host, who will provide an overview of the destinations you will visit on the tour. This is your opportunity to learn all about the tour program, receive tour literature and ask questions. Overnight in Rome.
Day 2 (Saturday): Rome – Vatican
After breakfast depart for transfer to the Vatican City where you’ll enjoy a guided visit of the Vatican Museum. The art and history of the Vatican have always left a profound impression on visitors to Rome. What better way to immerse yourself in the best of Italy than discovering the masterpieces of Greek and Roman ancient art: the works of Raphael, Michelangelo and Caravaggio; the Sistine Chapel; and St Peter’s Basilica? After an incredible morning of artistic discovery, return to your hotel by private coach. Enjoy free time in the afternoon to explore the city. Return in time to enjoy a delicious dinner in a local restaurant. Overnight in Rome.Day 3 (Sunday): Rome
Spend a leisurely morning exploring Rome’s wonderful Piazzas or just stroll around the city. Meet in the afternoon for a tour that will let you live the history of ancient Rome. This afternoon’s tour will see you visit the Colosseum. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the mythical origins, the thousands of years of history and legendary heroes who made Rome “Caput Mundi”. Once inside the walls of the Colosseum you’ll be captivated by stories of the amphitheatre’s bloody past and its atmosphere as you are led by your passionate and expert guides.Tonight you will enjoy dinner in a traditional Roman trattoria. This is the way to enjoy real Italian cuisine, amongst the locals and away from the tourist crowds. Return to your hotel andd overnight in Rome.Day 4 (Monday): Rome – Siena – San Gimignano – Florence
Meet your driver in the morning, ready for departure to Siena. The drive itself will take you on a magnificent path along the roads of Tuscany. Enjoy stunning views of hills covered by vineyards and olive trees. Catch a glimpse of original bell towers as you pass through small villages along the way. Upon arrival in the city, check in to your hotel, then meet with your local guide and head out for a walking tour of Siena. This is probably Italy’s loveliest medieval city. At the heart of Siena is Il Campo, the Square where the famous horse race Il Palio takes place twice every summer. Lunch is served in a typical farm house outside the town. The view is as attractive as the food in this rustic restaurant, set against a backdrop of hills covered by vineyards and olive groves.
After lunch you’ll continue your journey to Florence with a stop en route at the UNESCO World Heritage site in San Gimignano. We’ve made sure you will have Free time to enjoy this fascinating medieval style village on your own before traveling on to your destination. Arrive in Florence late afternoon. Check-in at your hotel and spend an evening relaxing. Overnight in Florence.
Day 5 (Tuesday): Florence
Enjoy a guided morning walking tour of the city. Florence was transformed into the cradle of the Renaissance by Lorenzo de Medici, who attracted the best artists, architects and writers of the time to the city. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli were among the artistic geniuses to whom he commissioned various works. Visit the most famous locations in Florence: Piazza della Signoria; Palazzo Vecchio; the Dome with Giotto’s bell tower; Ponte Vecchio; Santa Croce. Spend your free time in the afternoon exploring Florence on your own. Visit the Uffizi, the Accademia, or take the opportunity to visit Pisa or Lucca. Venture out in the evening for Dinner at a classic Tuscan restaurant. Overnight in Florence.
Day 6 (Wednesday): Florence – Venice
Enjoy an early breakfast at your hotel before your transfer to the Railway Station in Florence. Your travel day begins with the excitement and emotion of riding the high speed train to Venice. Travel by train in Italy is fast, comfortable and convenient. Relax and enjoy the experience.Your tour assistant will meet you upon arrival at Venice Railway Station, and accompany you for transfer to your hotel. In the afternoon, enjoy an orientation tour of Venice, including the city’s best known sights. Enjoy a typical Venetian dinner in the evening, then follow it up with a short walking tour that will take you to the mysterious side of the city. Overnight in Venice
Day 7 (Thursday): Venice
Start your last full day in Venice with a hearty Italian breakfast. We’ve made this a Free day so you can choose exactly where you want to spend your time in Venice. There are a range of optional tours available for you to choose from. Tonight you will enjoy a Special Dinner to celebrate your last night in Venice.
