Family Friendly Accommodations in Italy That Are Great for Kids

Happy Mother And Baby Girl Rejoicing In Front Of Colosseum In Ro

Italy is a country that values family and, because of this, it understands the needs of tourists looking for family friendly accommodations. Traveling with kids can be quite the challenge if the place that you are going to be staying doesn’t cater to their specific needs. Any traveling family will certainly take this into consideration once they’ve set their eyes on their preferred destination.

It’s a good thing that Italy hosts a variety of accommodations that can look after your family. We’ve listed a few of these types of places as well as a couple of examples that can hopefully give you a good idea of where you might want to stay.

Ski Resorts

A trip to the mountains usually includes packing your skis for an enjoyable run on the slopes. However, when bringing kids to a ski resort, you don’t want to choose one that only has intermediate to expert level slopes. In addition, if it’s their first time to ski, you might also want to look for one that has schools or instructors dedicated to teaching beginners. Fortunately, Italy has some ski resorts which fit the bill perfectly.

Passo Tonale is a great place for families looking to enjoy the fresh powder of the Dolomites. The beginner’s area doesn’t take you very far from the hotel itself, so you can easily keep an eye on your kids. There are also readily available ski instructors who can help novice skiers out even if it’s their first time on the slopes. Alternately, you can also try out Cervinia near Turin. It isn’t a big resort, but it has wide ski runs that include a huge area for beginners. The gentle runs at Plan Maison make so that even children can feel safe yet accomplished while managing the slopes. There’s even a kindergarten there where you can leave your children if they want to take a break from the snow.

Family Villas

Classic Tuscan landscapeVillas offer a good amount of space for your children to roam around – definitely a good alternative compared to the cramped confines of a hotel room. There are even some villas that are situated in the countryside that can give families a good view of the beautiful landscape and scenery there. And because most of these places are family owned, they can be sensitive to your needs when it comes to taking care of your children.

Take for example Le Terre di Poreta. This family estate has been around since 1673 is a quiet getaway for any family looking to enjoy the countryside. Despite its somewhat remote location, it has many amenities from a fully stocked kitchen to a trio of pools. The owner, Filippo, lives on a hill near the estate and he is always ready to welcome guests to stay for as long as they like.

Rustic Country and Guest Houses

Rustic country homes that offer accommodations for traveling families are a great way to leave behind the city and all of the busy crowds that go with it. There are many laid back, family-owned guest houses across the country that give kids a good view of the rural background and culture that Italy has to offer.

One of the more interesting places to stay is Agriturismo Ferdy in Lombardy. This farm is situated in the mountains north of Bergamo and offers a lot of fun activities for young and old alike. Farm chores like milking goats and feeding the animals are ways for the kids to experience the farm life firsthand. They can also go on pony rides, ride a canoe or learn all about the dairy process.

Family Friendly Hotels

While most hotels may seem pretty stuffy to children who just want to run around and play, there are some hotels which offer more than the usual bed and breakfast for kids. For instance, Hotel Dolce Casa is a hotel that specially caters to children and treats them as very special guests. Located in Moena in Trentino Alto Adige, it offers a lot of different activities such as children shows, nature walks and cooking classes. There’s even a spa just for pampering your kids!

However way you want to enjoy your trip to Italy, there are many different places that can certainly accommodate you and your family. It all depends on your style and preference with the way you want to be treated while there.
