Celebrations and Festivals in Rome

If you happened to be in Rome today, on your own or on an escorted Italy tour, you probably noticed some signs of the festa della Repubblica, the national holiday that commemorates Italy’s vote to make Italy a republic (i.e., not a monarchy). Festivities, and fighter jets with green, orange and white tails, or frecce tricolore, are standard fare. If you were in Rome today, let us know what you saw on the blog or on Facebook.

As for the rest of the summer, one of the largest festivals in Rome is the Estate Romana Festival, a series of outdoor performances and cultural events, dance and plays. Here’s a calendar from RomeGuide.com.
