Day 1: FridayWelcome to Italy!
When you arrive at the airport in Rome, you will need to proceed through Passport Control and collect your luggage inside the customs area, then meet your driver at the gate to make your way to the hotel. You have the rest of the day at leisure to explore the city of Rome. Return to your hotel in time to meet with your tour Host. This is your opportunity to find out about each of the activities arranged for your enjoyment. Your Tour Host will provide destination literature and information about the tour program. Ask any questions you may have and get to know your Tour Host and travel companions. Overnight in Rome.
Day 2: Saturday
After breakfast, meet for your transfer to the Vatican City where you’ll be fascinated by a guided visit that includes the Vatican Museum. The art and history of the Vatican are unforgettable and invariably make a profound impression on visitors to Rome. As you explore the city you’ll discover the masterpieces of the ancient Greeks and Romans. See the classic works of such masters as Michelangelo, Raphael, and Caravaggio. Experience for yourself the beauty of the Sistine Chapel and St Peter’s Basilica, then return to your hotel by private coach. We’ve left the afternoon free so you can explore the city – Discover the nearby Piazzas, shop and taste the food. There is a little something for everyone in Rome! In the evening, you’ll enjoy a delicious Italian dinner at a local restaurant. Overnight in Rome.
Day 3: Sunday
Spend your free morning discovering Rome’s Piazzas or just walking around the city. Meet your guide in the afternoon to discover the history of ancient Rome. Your itinerary gives you the opportunity to learn about its mythical origins. You will hear about the thousands years of history and the legendary heroes who made Rome “Caput Mundi during your visit to the Colosseum.
Once inside, take in the atmosphere of the amphitheatre’s bloody past, as you are lead by expert guides with a passion for the Colosseum and its history. Return to your hotel for a short rest before transfer to a traditional Roman trattoria for dinner. You’ll feel at home amongst the locals and appreciate the relaxed atmosphere away from all the standard tourist haunts. Overnight in Rome.
Day 4: Monday
Meet with your driver ready for departure to Siena. The drive will take you on a magnificent path along the picturesque roads of Tuscany. Take in expansive views of Tuscan hills covered by vineyards, olive trees and small villages along the way.
On arrival in Siena, meet with your local guide at the hotel and depart for a walking tour of the city. Siena is probably Italy’s loveliest medieval city. At its heart is the square known as Il Campo, where the famous horse race Il Palio is conducted twice each summer. Enjoy a relaxed lunch, served at a typical farm house outside the town, where you’ll dine against a backdrop of rolling hills covered by vineyards and olive trees. Siena offers a mix of magnificent masterpieces and incredible views. After lunch, continue your journey to Florence, with a stop en route at San Gimignano. The town is listed as a World Heritage site and you will have plenty of free time to explore its fascinating medieval architecture and unique skyline. Wander the village on your own before rejoining your driver to continue the journey. You will arrive in Florence in the late afternoon. Overnight in Florence.
Day 5: Tuesday
In the morning, enjoy a walking tour of the city with your guide. Florence is known as the cradle of the Renaissance. It is the place where Lorenzo de Medici brought together the best artists, architects and writers of the time. Naturally this included the masters – Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli. Your walking tour will take you to Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, the Ponte Vecchio and Santa Croce. Spend your free time in the afternoon exploring more of Florence on your own. You might like to visit the Uffizi or the Accademia before returning to your hotel. Dinner tonight will be at a local restaurant where you’ll be treated to delicious Tuscan cuisine. Overnight in Florence.
Day 6: Wednesday
After breakfast, depart your hotel for a full day visit to the Chianti wine region where you’ll enjoy local wine and cheese tastings along more of Tuscany’s scenic roads. There is no better way to enjoy this amazing part of Italy than with outstanding food and wine! We know today will be a highlight of your tour. Celebrate your last night on tour with a Farewell dinner at a wonderul local restaurant in Florence. Overnight in Florence.
Day 7: Thursday
Rise early and enjoy a hearty Tuscan breakfast before departing your hotel for transfer to the Airport or Railway Station in time to connect with your flight or train departure.Featured Properties
