La Grande Toscana and Umbria tour takes you into the beautiful Tuscan countryside where you’ll explore charming medieval hill towns, art filled cities and sample some of Italy’s best food and wine. You will have the chance to learn about the history of Siena and then explore nearby San Gimignano at your own pace. Everything about this tour says relax and indulge. You will soak up the tranquil country atmosphere, explore vibrant Florence, dine in a traditional Trattoria, tour the vineyards of Tuscany, sample Chianti in the town that bears its name. This Italian experience is all here waiting just for you. This package is a mix of small group (maximum 16 people from Day 1 to Day 3) and private services (from Day 3 to Day 7).
Our Commitment is to guarantee any departures even with 2 participants. For groups traveling with a minimum of 7 people, a tour leader will escorted the group from the arrival until departure. In case of the number of people traveling will be less or equal to 6, the tour will be operated by a tour host. The tour host will visit daily the guests and will assist them at check-in in any single hotel. The tour host will escort the guest to the restaurants when the dinner is included. The tour host is available 24 hours by phone. The passengers are provided at their arrival with a Travel Packet with information, maps and an itinerary with details, tips and emergency toll free number.

Day 1 (Monday): Rome – Siena, San Gimignano – Florence
Meet your driver in the morning, ready for departure to Siena. The drive itself will take you on a magnificent path along the roads of Tuscany. Enjoy stunning views of hills covered by vineyards and olive trees. Catch a glimpse of original bell towers as you pass through small villages along the way. Upon arrival in the city, meet with your local guide and head out for a walking tour of Siena. This is probably Italy’s loveliest medieval city. At the heart of Siena is Il Campo, the Square where the famous horse race Il Palio takes place twice every summer. Enjoy a wine tasting with typical cheeses and salami.
After lunch you’ll continue your journey to Florence with a stop en route at the UNESCO World Heritage site in San Gimignano. We’ve made sure you will have Free time to enjoy this fascinating medieval style village on your own before traveling on to your destination. Arrive in Florence late afternoon. Check-in at your hotel and spend an evening relaxing. Overnight in Florence.
Day 2 (Tuesday): Florence
Enjoy a guided morning walking tour of the city. Florence was transformed into the cradle of the Renaissance by Lorenzo de Medici, who attracted the best artists, architects and writers of the time to the city. Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Botticelli were among the artistic geniuses to whom he commissioned various works. Visit the most famous locations in Florence: Piazza della Signoria; Palazzo Vecchio; the Dome with Giotto’s bell tower; Ponte Vecchio; Santa Croce and Academia Gallery. Spend your free time in the afternoon exploring Florence on your own. Visit the Uffizi, or enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Venture out in the evening for Dinner at a classic Tuscan restaurant. Overnight in Florence.
Day 3 (Wednesday): Florence – Chianti
After breakfast, the day in Florence is at your leisure. You can just relax and take a walk on the beautiful streets of Florence, cross over the Arno river via the jewelry laden Ponte Vecchio, visit the formal 16th-century Boboli Gardens and nearby Pitti Palace. Another option for your day is an excursion to the pretty towns of Montepulciano and Montalcino. In the late afternoon (around 5:30pm), you will be taken to the countryside in Chianti for a unique experience. Here you will enjoy the view of the beautiful vineyard covered hills and have a fantastic dinner in a traditional Italian farmhouse all accompanied with Chianti wine. You will return to your four star hotel in Florence in the late evening.
Day 4 (Thursday): Florence – Pisa – Cortona
After breakfast, you will meet your expert driver and travel to the town of Pisa. In Pisa, the local English-speaking guide will take you on a tour of this enchanting Tuscan city. Pisa is most famous for its Leaning Tower, but the old Maritime Republic offers many more incredible sights like the Piazza dei Miracoli (Square of Miracles), the beautiful marble Baptistery and many other masterpieces. At the end of the tour of the town of PIsa, you will proceed on to Cortona where you will spend the next two nights. Dinner will be served in a typical Italian restaurant. Overnight in Cortona in a four star hotel.
Day 5 (Friday): Cortona – Cooking Course
After breakfast, your first day in Cortona will start with a visit the local market where you will learn about seasonal ingredients from the region Your market visit will be followed by an unforgettable cooking experience with a local expert to learn the secrets of Tuscan cuisine. For lunch you will dine on the fruits of your morning effort. After lunch, the rest of your day is at your own pace. Cortona is a charming hill town located in the Valdichiana area of southern Tuscany. The city, enclosed by stonewalls dating back to Etruscan and Roman times, sits on the top of a hill that rises approximately 600 meters above sea level. This dominant position over the valley offers spectacular views from all over the town of the surrounding valley and even Lake Trasimeno. Overnight in Cortona in a four star hotel.
Day 6 (Saturday): Cortona – Assisti – Perugia – Rome
After breakfast your driver will meet you and you will travel through the Tuscan countryside to the Umbrian hill town of Assisi. You will spend the morning exploring this peaceful town at your own pace. You can visit the many spiritual sites of Saint Francis and Saint Clare. The enormous Basilica of San Francesco di Assisi is filled with artistic treasure and important religious shrine. The Giotto fresco cycle that portrays the life of Saint Francis in the upper Basilica is a must. On the other end of this delightful town is the simple Gothic style Basilica of Saint Clare and a piazza with beautiful views over the Umbrian valleys. In the early afternoon you will continue on to the city of Perugia, with a stop on the way for lunch. Your lunch will be served in a traditional farmhouse in the Umbrian countryside. Upon arrival in Perugia, your english-speaking guide will meet you for a tour of this capital city of Umbria. The city of Perugia has Etruscan origins and is now best known as an important University town and chocolate producing center. After your tour of Perugia you will continue on to Rome. You will have dinner and stay overnight at a four star hotel.
Day 7 (Sunday): Rome
Today you will depart for home. Rise early and meet the driver to make your way to Rome airport or train station.
